Kabaddi Player Found Dead in Punjab Police Station After 3 Days
Punjab Kabaddi Player's Body Found in Jalandhar Police Station Latest News: A decomposed body of a young man was found in a room located on the upper floor of the Shahkot Police Station premises in Jalandhar, Punjab.
The deceased has been identified as 26-year-old Gurbhej Singh, also known as Bheja, a resident of Bajwa Kalan village in Shahkot.
Gurbhej Singh was a skilled Kabaddi player and had been working at the Shahkot Police Station for the past few months, reportedly serving tea and water. According to his family, Gurbhej had gone to the police station as usual on Friday, but did not return home. The family searched for him for three days without success.
Surprisingly, the police station staff also claimed to have had no information about his whereabouts. However, on Sunday night, a foul smell began to spread through the station, prompting personnel to check a rarely used room on the terrace. There, they discovered Gurbhej Singh’s body in a decomposed state.
Police took the body into custody and sent it to the government hospital in Nakodar for post-mortem. After the examination, the body was handed over to the family for cremation. A large number of villagers, along with police personnel, attended the funeral.
Shahkot SHO Balwinder Singh Bhullar confirmed the death and said the area where the body was found is rarely accessed by police personnel. As per the preliminary investigation, it is suspected that the youth may have died due to the bite of a poisonous insect or creature. “Gurbhej was a good athlete and a bodybuilder. We often helped him. Bheja was a good player,” the SHO added.
The exact cause of death will be confirmed after the post-mortem report is released.
