Centre has also resolved the ongoing coal transportation bottlenecks

Power Units in Punjab Latest News Today: In a major boost to Punjab’s power infrastructure, the Union Government has approved three new 800 MW power generation units for the state. This comes following a meeting between Punjab’s Power Minister and the Union Power Minister, which has been described as “fruitful and cooperative.”

Union Minister of State Ravneet Bittu took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to make the announcement, saying, “The Union Government has never held back on supporting Punjab. Every issue raised by Punjab’s Power Minister yesterday was wholeheartedly acknowledged and promptly approved by the Union Minister.”

Along with the green signal for the power plants, Bittu confirmed that the Centre has also resolved the ongoing coal transportation bottlenecks, which had earlier raised concerns over fuel supply to power plants in Punjab.

The approval of the new power generation units is expected to significantly enhance Punjab’s electricity production capacity and help meet growing industrial and domestic energy demands.

“This is a testament to the Centre’s commitment to Punjab’s development. Political lines do not come in the way when it’s about strengthening the state’s core infrastructure,” Bittu added in his tweet.
