Punjab Schools Shut, Security Tightened After India’s Air Strikes on Pakistan

The air strikes, a response to recent terror activities, have prompted heightened security measures across Punjab and Haryana.

Punjab School Holiday Latest News After Operation Sindoor, India vs Pakistan: Schools in five Punjab districts—Gurdaspur, Pathankot, Fazilka, Ferozepur, and Amritsar—have been ordered closed for the next 72 hours due to escalating tensions between India and Pakistan following India’s ‘Operation Sindoor.’ The operation, conducted at 1:30 am on Wednesday, involved air strikes on nine terrorist hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), targeting locations in Bahawalpur, Muridke, Bagh, Kotli, and Muzaffarabad. Reports indicate 30 people were killed in the strikes.

The air strikes, a response to recent terror activities, have prompted heightened security measures across Punjab and Haryana. Chandigarh and Amritsar’s Sri Guru Ram Das Ji International Airport have been shut until further notice, with all flights canceled until at least 10 am. IndiGo and other airlines have advised passengers to check flight statuses before heading to airports. Security has been intensified at the Amritsar airport, with rigorous checks in place.

In Ambala, a ban on flying drones has been imposed, while the Railway Protection Force (RPF) is conducting thorough luggage checks at Ambala Cantt railway station, including inspections of passengers’ belongings on trains. The closures and security measures reflect the government’s cautious approach to ensuring public safety amid the volatile situation.
Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant, and further updates on school reopenings and airport operations are expected as the situation evolves.
