Restrictions in place to regulate firecracker usage during festivities

CHANDIGARH: In preparation for the upcoming celebrations of Diwali and Gurpurab, the Chandigarh administration has implemented guidelines regarding the use of firecrackers. These instructions aim to ensure responsible and limited usage of firecrackers during these festivities.

On the occasion of Diwali, firecrackers will be allowed for a restricted duration of two hours. Specifically, individuals are permitted to light firecrackers from 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Additionally, the use of only green firecrackers has been authorized in accordance with the issued orders.

-- Controlled Firecracker Use on Gurpurab

Similar regulations apply to the celebration of Gurpurab, wherein firecrackers will be allowed for a period of two hours. During Gurpurab, individuals can engage in firecracker activities from 4:00 am to 5:00 am and from 8:00 pm to 9:00 pm. It is emphasized that firecrackers may only be ignited at a distance of 100 meters from a silent zone.

The administration has emphasized strict enforcement of these guidelines, and individuals found violating the stipulated timings and types of firecrackers will face severe penalties. The authorities are committed to ensuring compliance with the regulations to minimize noise and air pollution during the festive season. These regulations have been put in place with the aim of encouraging responsible celebration while prioritizing the environment and public health.
