Punjab Weather Updates Aug 6 Latest News: The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Chandigarh, has issued a yellow alert forecasting heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, squalls, and more in Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, Nawashahr, Rupnagar, and SAS Nagar, in its general forecast for today, on Wednesday.
No alerts have been issued for the remaining districts of the state in its forecast for today.
Nowcast, Punjab Weather Updates: However, the State Meteorological Department, in its nowcast has placed Ludhiana under an orange alert warning of moderate rain accompanied by light thunderstorms with maximum surface wind speed, and wind speed is forecasted to be less than 40 kmph.
Additionally, in the nowcast, a yellow alert has also been issued for 12 districts in the state, warning of light rain accompanied by similar weather conditions as predicted for the state under the orange alert.
The districts affected under the yellow warning are Amritsar, Hoshiapur, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Nawashahr, Rupnagar, Fatehgarh Sahib, Patiala, Sangur, Barnala, and Mansa.
Nowcast is valid up to 7 PM this evening.
