Pong Dam Water Level Rises by 6 Feet; 13 Feet Below Danger Mark, 4 Floodgates Opened by 2 Feet
Pong Dam Water Level Latest News: Following continuous rainfall in Punjab and Himachal Pradesh, the water level of Pong Dam has risen by another 6 feet. As of today, the water level in the dam stands at 1366.68 feet, just 13 feet below the danger mark.
Pong Dam is receiving 55,310 cusecs of water, while 18,506 cusecs of water are being released into the Shah Nehar Barrage at Talwara.
Four floodgates of the Shah Nehar Barrage have been opened by 2 feet to release water into the Beas River, as of Wednesday.
The BBMB (Bhakra Beas Management Board) had recently issued an advisory informing the civil administration, drainage, and flood control departments that if the water level crosses the danger mark in the coming days, the spillway gates of Pong Dam will be opened.
