Punjab Police Arrested for Bribery Latest News: Faridkot, Punjab: Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Rajan Pal, who was posted in the Crime Against Women Cell in Faridkot, has been arrested for allegedly attempting to bribe senior officials, The Tribune reported.
According to the report, DSP Rajan Pal was booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act after allegations surfaced that he had solicited a bribe from the family of a woman involved in a matrimonial dispute.
The matter reportedly escalated when the complaint reached Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dr. Pragya Jain. In an apparent attempt to suppress the allegations, DSP Rajan Pal allegedly tried to bribe ASI Jaswinder Singh, the SSP’s reader, by offering him a bribe of rupees 1 lakh.
Faridkot SSP Pragya Jain told media, "... A complaint of a matrimonial dispute was lodged with DSP Rajanpal Singh of CAW (Crime Against Women cell). He demanded a bribe to resolve this dispute. Yesterday, a complaint regarding this bribe was lodged at the Faridkot SSP office. When the DSP learned of this complaint, he came to the Faridkot SSP office and offered a bribe to get the complaint against him cancelled. We immediately took action and registered an FIR against him under sections 7 and 8 of the PC Act (Prevention of Corruption Act). The accused has been arrested..."
