Punjab government constitutes a SIT in the case of 328 missing 'swaroops' Guru Grant Sahib copies

The SIT will be headed by AIG Vigilance, SAS Nagar (Mohali), Jagatpreet Singh.

The Punjab government has constituted a six-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) in connection with the case of 328 missing saroops (copies) of Shri Guru Granth Sahib in the state.

The SIT will be headed by AIG Vigilance, SAS Nagar (Mohali), Jagatpreet Singh, and will function under the supervision of Amritsar Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar.

According to a directive issued by the Office of the Director, Bureau of Investigation, Punjab, Chandigarh, the six-member SIT comprises the following officers:

  • Jagatpreet Singh, PPS, AIG/Vigilance, SAS Nagar, Mohali – Chairman
  • Ravinderpal Singh Sandhu, PPS, DCP (Investigation), Police Commissionerate, Amritsar – Member
  • Harpal Singh Sandhu, PPS, Additional DCP, Police Commissionerate, Amritsar – Member
  • Gurbans Singh Bains, PPS, SP/D, Patiala – Member
  • Beant Juneja, PPS, ACP, Ludhiana – Member
  • Harminder Singh, PPS, ACP/D, Police Commissionerate, Amritsar – Member

The directive further states that the Commissioner of Police, Amritsar, has been authorised to co-opt other police officers or officials into the SIT from within the Police Commissionerate, Amritsar.

In case any police officer or official posted outside the Police Commissionerate, Amritsar, is to be included, prior approval from the Director, Bureau of Investigation, Punjab, will be required, the directive stated.
