Following his resignation, a member of AAP will be appointed to temporarily fill the role of Chief Minister.
New Delhi: In a dramatic turn of events, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced his resignation, just days after being granted bail by the Supreme Court. Addressing a rally, Kejriwal stated, "Two days later, I will resign as Chief Minister. I will not sit on that chair till the people announce their verdict."
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader emphasized his faith in democracy and the will of the people, signaling that his next political move will be based on public support. "I got justice from the legal court, now I will get justice from the people's court. I will sit on the Chief Minister's chair only after the order of the people," he added.
Kejriwal’s resignation comes at a crucial time, with Delhi's assembly elections scheduled for February. However, the AAP leader is calling for an early election, demanding that the polls in the national capital be held in November alongside the Maharashtra state elections.
Following his resignation, a member of AAP will be appointed to temporarily fill the role of Chief Minister. Kejriwal indicated that he would spend the coming weeks actively engaging with the public, seeking their support for his leadership once more.
Kejriwal's move has sent ripples through the political landscape, raising speculation about the future of AAP and the impact of this decision on the upcoming Delhi elections. Political observers are watching closely as the capital braces for what could be a pivotal moment in its electoral history.
