Madhya Pradesh witnessed a voter turnout of 76.22% this year which marginally higher than 2018.

Madhya Pradesh Assembly Elections Result 2023: After more than a decade of the Bharatiya Janata Party's rule in the state, a larger population of the state is set to witness who is going to rule in Madhya Pradesh for the next five years. The result of the Madhya Pradesh is yet to be announced while the exit polls have been indicating a neck-to-neck competition between the BJP and Congress party. 

In the meanwhile, the Congress party has been seeking to take revenge on the saffron party for the collapse of the Kamal Nath-led government in 2020. Notably, the voting for 230 assembly constituencies in Madhya Pradesh was held on November 17 while the counting of votes will be held on December 3.

In Madhya Pradesh, the BJP party has consistently defeated the grand old party, except for 15 months in 2018 when the Congress party won and Kamal Nath was sworn in as the Chief Minister. However, the Congress party-led state government collapsed, with Jyotiraditya Scindia and his loyalist MLAs switching sides, Shivraj Singh Chouhan took oath as the Chief Minister for the third time.

A total of 2,533 candidates are in the fray for 230 constituencies in Madhya Pradesh. It is pertinent to mention that over 5.59 lakh voters were eligible to vote for this election.

Madhya Pradesh Assembly Elections Result 2023: Past results

In 2018, the BJP party lost power to Congress in Madhya Pradesh following three consecutive terms. Back then, Congress veteran Kamal Nath was sworn in as the Chief Minister following the Congress party's victory which won 114 seats. On the other hand, the BJP party finished the 2018 campaign with 109 seats. However, the tables turned after several Congress MLAs, loyal to Jyotiraditya Scindia, switched to the BJP party. Notably, the Kamal Nath-led government lasted for only 15 months.
