In Amazon Indian Fashion Week when the supermodel and actor Milind Soman walked the ramp, he was not the attraction. He was accompanied by the 101 year old athlete Mann Kaur who was enthusiastic to walk the ramp with Milind.

Soman walked the ramp for the designer Nida Mahmood’s brand Deivee.

Mann Kaur hails from Chandigarh and won a 100m race at the World Masters Games held in Auckland, New Zealand, in May this year, and Coimbatore’s V. Nanammal, a 98-year-old yoga teacher, who stole the show with Milind.

The enthusiasm of the two senior citizens on the ramp was so infectious that the audience kept rooting for them long after they’d finished their routine.

Mann Kaur even sprinted across the ramp with Soman, who had to stop her just in time before she ran over the edge. After running back, she refused to go backstage and continued dancing on the side.

Mann Kaur, dubbed the “miracle from Chandigarh” after winning the 100m gold at the World Masters Games in Auckland in April, had been training hard for the competition at home in Punjab.

Mann Kaur will be travelling to Toronto in this month where she will be bestowed with the lifetime achievement award during a function. Kaur is one of the nominees for the coveted Laureus World Sports Awards-2017 in the new category — Best Sporting Moment of the Year.

Nanammal is known for performing age-defying yoga poses, some of which she put on display during the show. She was given the Nari Shakti Puraskar Award by the President on International Women’s Day on March 8 this year.

Possibly the oldest yoga instructor in India, Nanammal teaches yoga to more than 100 students on a daily basis, and her students include people from all age groups. Nanammal started to learn the basics of yoga from her father, who was a martial artist, from the early age of eight.

Nanammal attempted to get on to the Guinness Book of World Records by teaching yoga to over 20,000 students and enthusiasts in Coimbatore.
