Three men uproot Nalagarh ATM; one of them killed in police firing

Solan (HP): In an unsuccessful attempt to loot an ATM of HDFC Bank at Chokiwala area of Nalagarh, the police opened fire and killed one of the three miscreants who were trying to flee in a Maruti car at Dheerowal inter-state barrier.

The mishap took place around 2 am on Saturday when three masked men first took the security guard captive and then tied the ATM with the Maruti car and managed to uproot it. They, however, failed to flee with the cash and fled the spot after the noise.

A quick response team of the Nalagarh police alerted all exit points and their grey car was intercepted at Dheerowal barrier where the miscreants tried to flee but the police fired at them killing one on the spot while two others were injured.

One of the two injured was arrested and referred to PGI Chandigarh while the other one managed to flee on foot taking advantage of the darkness, said Baddi SP Rahul Nath.
