The Sangh chief also stated that the organisation does not have 'special affinity' towards any political party.
Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Chief Mohan Bhagwat on Sunday stated that the organization has respected the national flag since its creation and still does.
Addressing at the 100 Years of Sangh Journey: New Horizons, 2-Day Lecture Series in Bengaluru, Bhagwat said, “The national flag was first decided in 1933, and the flag committee unanimously recommended the traditional 'Bhagwa' to be the flag of Swatantra Bharat, but then Gandhi ji intervened, and for some reason, he said three colours and on the top will be 'Bhagwa'...”
“Since its creation, Sangha has always stood by, respected, offered tributes, and protected this Tiranga Dhwaj... So there is no question of Bhagwa vis-a-vis. Bhagwa and Tiranga.”

The RSS chief made the remarks while answering a question on the Sangha flag and the ticolour.
“Every Communist Party has a red flag. Congress Party has Tiranga with charkha, not chakra. The Republican Party has a blue flag. So we have our Bhagwa and we respect our national flag..." he added.
The Sangh chief also stated that the organisation does not have 'special affinity' towards any one political party and supports policies only.
"We do not support any political party. We do not participate in vote politics, current politics, or election politics. Sangha is a work of uniting society and politics, but by nature, it is divisive. So we keep out of politics. We support policies, and especially now that we are a force, we will exert our force to support the right policy. Not individual, not a party, but policy. For example, we wanted to have Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. So our Swayamsevaks supported those who stood by its construction. BJP was there, but if Congress had supported that, our Swayamsevaks would have voted for that party also..."
"There is no Sangh party. No party is ours, and all parties are ours because they are Bharatiya parties. We support Rashtraneeti, not Rajneeti. We do that publicly. We have our views, and we want to take this country in a particular direction. Those who will drive in that direction, particularly, we will support them," Mohan Bhagwat said.
"We'll ask the public to think about this and support them. Whatever the public does, it is their prerogative, but we will exert our strength in favour of the Rashtraneeti we feel proud of..." he added.
