Panchayat accounts officer held for taking bribe

Nashik: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested an official of a panchayat samiti here for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 8,000 from a complainant.  

The assistant accounts officer of the panchayat samiti in Trimbakeshwar town here was arrested last evening while he was accepting the amount from a retired medical officer for settling an issue related to the latter's salary, an ACB release said.

The accused had demanded the money from the complainant for resolving the issue of a difference in his salary as per the 6th Pay Commission.  Subsequently, the complainant approached the ACB sleuths, who laid a trap and caught the accused while he was accepting the bribe, the release said.  

An offence was registered against him at Trimbakeshwar police station, it said. PTI
