Man found dead, villagers protest

Muzaffarnagar: A 23-year-old man was today found dead with injuries inflicted by a sharp-edged weapon in a village here, prompting a protest by local residents, police said.  

Rajnish Sharma, a resident of Valli village in the Budhana police station area, had been missing since yesterday. Today, he was found dead near a tubewell in a field. The body bore injuries inflicted by a sharp-edged weapon, Circle Officer Hari Ram Yadav said.

The incident led to a protest by villagers, who alleged Kumar was abducted and killed. They did not allow the police to send the body for autopsy.  Later, senior police officers rushed to spot and placated them. Extra police personnel have been deployed in the village in view of tension. PTI
