Gurgaon: The Haryana government has decided to name the road approaching the government School in Ransika village in this district and the bus stand in nearby Khod after Captain Kapil Kundu, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said today.
He said that a project will also be named after Captain Kundu so that future generations can take inspiration from the martyr. Khattar said that his government may also provide jobs to the Army captain's sisters in accordance with the prevailing rules.
The Haryana chief minister met the family of Captain Kundu at his native Ransika village and offered a letter of ex-gratia of Rs 50 lakh given by the state government. He expressed his condolences to the young Army captain's mother Sunita Devi and sisters Sonia and Kajal.
Twenty two-year-old Kundu was killed braving Pakistani shelling in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district on February 4. Speaking to reporters, Khattar said the sacrifices made by Kundu would not go in vain and he will always be remembered as a brave son of India. The entire state and country is proud of the sacrifice made by Capt Kundu, he said.
"Blessed is the family that gave birth to such a brave son and blessed is the mother who sends her only son in the Army to serve the nation," Khattar said. Asked if the state government will consider giving employment to Kundu's sisters, the chief minister said that jobs would be given as per the state government rules.
He said that according to the state government policy, an amount of Rs 50 lakh has been transferred to the bank account of martyr's mother today. The chief minister also went to the place where the last rites of captain Kundu were performed and paid floral tributes to the martyr.
Talking to Captain Kundu's family and the locals who had assembled there, Khattar said Haryana's contribution towards protecting the frontiers of the country was huge. "Particularly this area, that is Gurugram, Rewari, Mahendergarh, Charkhi-Dadri and Bhiwani, has (made) maximum contribution to the Armed forces of the country," he added.
Khattar said the state government would provide all support to the martyr's family and the people of the village should also come forward and assist them in all possible ways. PTI
