Punjab to Hold Historic Special Assembly Session at Anandpur Sahib on November 24
Punjab is preparing for a remarkable moment as the 10th Special Session of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha is going to take place at Bhai Jaita Ji Memorial in Sri Anandpur Sahib on November 24 at 1:00 pm. According to a notification issued by Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, cited by OneIndia, the session has been formally summoned under Article 174 of the Constitution of India.
This special session coincides with the “three-day commemoration of the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib**, scheduled from “November 23 to 25” in Anandpur Sahib. As per some media reports, this event has been organised with deep sensitivity by the Punjab government to honour the legacy of the Ninth Sikh Guru, whose martyrdom is regarded as a symbol of sacrifice for faith, human rights, and justice.
The celebrations will begin on November 23 with an Akhand Path, exhibitions, and an interfaith conference. On November 24, the day of the special session, the morning will start with “Sheesh Bhenth Nagar Kirtan”, reenacting Bhai Jaita Ji’s historic journey of bringing Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib’s severed head from Delhi to Anandpur Sahib.
Following the Nagar Kirtan, thousands of participants are expected to join a heritage walk covering sites such as Gurudwara Bhora Sahib, Sheesh Ganj Sahib, Guru Tegh Bahadur Museum, Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib, and Qila Anandgarh Sahib. The Vidhan Sabha session at 11 a.m. will be the first ever in Sikh history held in such a sacred location.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, in a social media message, invited devotees from across India and abroad to participate. He noted that four jathas, including one from Srinagar also joined by Kashmiri Pandits, will travel to Anandpur Sahib, converging on November 22–23.
The evening programmes will include Dhadi War, Kavisar Darbar, devotional performances, Gatka, weapon displays, and a grand drone show at Virasat-e-Khalsa, illustrating Guru Sahib’s life and sacrifice.
The Punjab government views this event not just as an official function but as a festival of devotion, aimed at connecting future generations to Sikh heritage and the timeless message of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib.
