BJP leader arrested for the attack on Rahul Gandhi’s car

Gujarat Police arrested Jayesh Darji, secretary of Banaskantha district youth BJP, in connection with stone pelting on Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi’s SUV on Friday. Mr Gandhi’s car was hit with a stone that smashed windowpane of rear seat and injured an SPG guard while the Congress Vice President sitting in front seat escaped unhurt.

Gujarat Police arrested Jayesh Darji, secretary of Banaskantha district youth BJP, in connection with stone pelting on Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi’s SUV on Friday. Mr Gandhi’s car was hit with a stone that smashed windowpane of rear seat and injured an SPG guard while the Congress Vice President sitting in front seat escaped unhurt.

Meanwhile, following the incident that was widely condemned by all political parties, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, who initially accused Mr. Gandhi of using Gujarat floods as photo opportunity, also condemned the incident and ordered an inquiry.

The Rupani administration appointed Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Mohan Jha to conduct the inquiry into the incident that exposed a major security lapse during the Congress leader’s visit to meet the flood-affected people in a North Gujarat district.
