Wayanad landslides Death Toll News Today: On July 31, district authorities in Wayanad, Kerala, began the crucial task of collecting data to determine the number of missing persons following a devastating landslide.
Rescue operations have resumed in an effort to locate individuals who may still be trapped. To aid in these efforts, helicopters will be deployed to airlift injured individuals from the affected areas.
Families have reported that several of their loved ones are still unaccounted for. In response, 45 relief camps have been set up in Wayanad, providing shelter to 3,069 people.
Early morning efforts saw various rescue agencies back on the ground, continuing their search for those missing in the tragedy that has claimed at least 150 lives and injured 197 others.
The Kerala Government has declared July 30 and 31 as days of mourning. In addition, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced an ex gratia payment of ₹2 lakh for the families of the deceased and ₹50,000 for those injured.
