Delhi Rs 2000 Cr Classroom Scam, Manish Sisodia, Satyendar Jain Booked Latest News Today: The Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) has registered a case against senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders and former Delhi ministers Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain over alleged irregularities in the construction of classrooms across government schools in Delhi. The scam, estimated to be worth Rs 2,000 crore, pertains to 12,748 classrooms/buildings reportedly built at highly inflated costs during the AAP government's tenure.
The ACB revealed that no project was completed within the scheduled timeline, and there were substantial deviations from the original plans. The case has been registered following official approval under Section 17-A of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
According to the ACB, a consultant and architect were appointed bypassing standard procedures, and massive cost escalations were carried out through them. Complaints were filed by BJP leaders Harish Khurana, MLA Kapil Mishra, and media coordinator Neelkanth Bakshi.
The cost of each classroom, as per tender records, was pegged at Rs 24.86 lakh, significantly higher than the market rate of Rs 5 lakh per room. The Anti-Corruption Bureau emphasized that these discrepancies highlight serious financial mismanagement.
The investigation is ongoing, and the ACB has not ruled out further action against additional individuals involved in the process.
