Mahakumbh Mela 2025 Stampede near Sangam has left devotees in shock: some echoes of tragedies in the past

Mahakumbh Mela 2025 Stampede Death Toll Latest News Today: A stampede at the Mahakumbh Mela on Wednesday near the Sangam area left the devotees in a state of shock, reviving painful memories of past incidents. According to media reports, the tragedy during the sacred gathering has already taken the lives of 14  people and left 50 others injured. The tragedy has left the devotees in a state of deep distress and voiced concern for the management and safety measures undertaken during the holy event.

Appeals for Better Security Arrangements

The recent stampede has brought into focus yet again the need for more stringent crowd management and safety measures at Mahakumbh Mela. Despite preparatory steps taken by security personnel, the sheer number of devotees at any given time during Mahakumbh Mela presents a massive challenge.

At least two people died, and nine others are severely injured as the investigation continues into a stampede yesterday evening.  Millions have been visiting Mahakumbh Mela with religious fervour. The divine fair should thus be remembered not for the bloodbath witnessed at the shrine, but as an event whose purpose was met when devotees found salvation.
