Several prominent leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and Congress leaders Rajesh Thakur and Mallikarjun Kharge, gathered at the AICC headquarters to honor the revered leader. Outside Dr. Singh's residence, mourners gathered to bid farewell to the leader who left an indelible mark on Indian politics and global diplomacy. Among them was East Delhi resident Jasmeet, who credited Dr. Singh for making India a globally recognized force.

In light of the large crowds and processions, the Delhi Traffic Police issued an advisory outlining restrictions and diversions on key routes. Citizens were encouraged to avoid affected areas and use public transport to minimize congestion.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge had earlier reached out to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, requesting that Dr. Singh’s final resting place be designated as a memorial site in recognition of his contributions to India. "A memorial would be a fitting tribute to a leader who rose from humble beginnings to become a statesman of immense stature," Kharge wrote.

Dr. Singh’s illustrious political career spanned decades, with key milestones including his tenure as Finance Minister from 1991 to 1996, during which he championed economic reforms that transformed India's economy. As the 13th Prime Minister of India, serving from 2004 to 2014, Dr. Singh steered the country through economic crises and ushered in a period of rapid growth and global recognition.

The funeral is scheduled to take place at Nigam Bodh Ghat today at 11:45 PM.
