Himachal Pradesh Kullu Heavy Rains Flood in Bhootnath Drain Latest News: Torrential rains have unleashed devastation in Himachal Pradesh’s Kullu district, where multiple vehicles were swept away in the Bhootnath drain, and several others were buried under debris in Gandhi Nagar. A shocking video of the incident has surfaced, highlighting the extent of the damage.

The region has been experiencing continuous rainfall for the past two days, turning the weather into a full-blown disaster for residents. In response to the worsening conditions, schools in Kullu have been closed, along with educational institutions in Shimla, Chamba, Kinnaur, and Lahaul-Spiti. The local Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert, warning of more severe weather ahead.

Major Disruptions: 444 Roads Blocked, Including 4 National Highways

The relentless downpour has caused significant damage across the state, leading to the closure of 444 roads, including four national highways. The disruption in transportation has severely impacted the supply of essential commodities, leaving many residents struggling to access necessities.

  • National Highway 305 and NH-5, which connect the state capital Shimla to Kinnaur and Upper Shimla, have come to a standstill.
  • In Kinnaur, Rampur, and Rohru, traffic has completely halted, leaving hundreds of vehicles stranded.
  • Public transport services, including buses, have been severely affected, confining many people to their homes.
  • The Public Works Department (PWD) has deployed heavy machinery to clear roads, but the persistent rain and landslides are making operations difficult.

The district administration has issued an alert, urging residents to stay indoors and avoid unnecessary travel.

Weather Forecast: More Rain and Snow Expected

As the bad weather persists, light to moderate snowfall continues across higher altitudes, while intermittent rainfall has affected mid and lower hill regions.

The Meteorological Department has issued the following warnings:

  • Heavy to very heavy rain and snowfall expected in Mandi, Kangra, Kullu, and Chamba districts. (Orange Alert)
  • Heavy snowfall forecasted in Lahaul-Spiti and heavy rain and snowfall in Shimla district. (Yellow Alert)
  • Una and Hamirpur are also likely to experience heavy rain.

Authorities have urged residents to exercise extreme caution, especially in landslide-prone areas, as the weather is expected to remain severe for the next 24 hours.
