Historic Milestone in Youth Empowerment: CM Mann Completes Recruitment of 54,422 for Government Jobs

Chandigarh: In what is being described as a landmark step in Punjab’s journey toward transparent governance and youth empowerment, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has successfully completed the process of providing government jobs to 54,422 young individuals across various departments in the state.

Describing the achievement as a “historic moment,” CM Mann reiterated that his government remains fully committed to offering employment based solely on merit. “This is not just a number; this is hope delivered, dreams realised, and a strong foundation laid for the future of Punjab,” he said while addressing a gathering during the latest distribution ceremony for 281 newly recruited candidates.

The Chief Minister contrasted this policy-driven progress with what he called the "corrupt and apathetic" stance of previous governments. He pointed out that years of neglect and backdoor dealings had left countless talented youth either jobless or waiting indefinitely. “They played with the future of Punjab’s children. But we are undoing that damage,” he said.

Mann underscored that the current wave of appointments has been done through fair, competitive examinations without any political interference. “Every job given by this government is a badge of hard work. No recommendations, no favoritism – only transparency and merit,” he asserted.

The Chief Minister also drew attention to the deeper vision behind the jobs drive – to bring the youth into the fold of governance. “When the youth becomes part of the system, it automatically becomes more energetic, inclusive and forward-looking. They will be the agents of socio-economic transformation,” he said.

Asserting that his government will continue expanding employment opportunities, Mann encouraged newly appointed candidates to serve with integrity and compassion. “Consider this your runway – now take off and do something meaningful for Punjab,” he urged, using the analogy of a plane ready for flight.

In a broader push for youth empowerment, the Chief Minister also announced the establishment of UPSC coaching centres across Punjab. These centres will be equipped with libraries, hostels, and other essential facilities to train candidates for national-level competitive exams. “Punjab’s youth will not be left behind. We will prepare them to lead the nation,” he added.

Mann criticised the cyclical pattern of governance in previous regimes, accusing them of forming alliances of convenience only to exploit public resources. “They pretended to oppose each other on stage but hugged behind closed doors. The people were the ones who suffered,” he remarked.

He also condemned past practices where government employees, including teachers, were paid meagre salaries—some even less than what daily wage workers under MGNREGA received. In contrast, Mann assured that his administration is focused on ensuring dignified wages and a stable livelihood for all employees.

Dismissing concerns about state finances, CM Mann declared that “every single rupee” is now being used for development, not squandered through corruption or inefficiency. “Earlier, leaders would repeat the same excuse – ‘the treasury is empty’ – to avoid responsibility. Today, the same treasury is fuelling education, employment and empowerment,” he said.

In closing, Mann called on the youth to stay rooted in Punjab and contribute to its resurgence. “This state belongs to you. Stay here, grow here, and help us write a new story of success,” he said.

With more job announcements expected soon, CM Mann reaffirmed that the AAP-led Punjab government is here not just to govern, but to transform – and the youth will lead that change.
