Pahalgam Attack: Senior Pakistan Official Threatens UK Protesters with Throat-Slit Gesture

A senior official of the Pakistan Army made threatening gestures toward members of the Indian community who were protesting outside the Pakistan High Commission in London on Friday, condemning the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir earlier this week, which killed 26 tourists and left many injured. The attack has triggered communal disharmony in many parts of India.

Colonel Taimur Rahat, the Pakistan Army and Air Advisor at the High Commission in London, was caught on video—now viral—making a throat-slit gesture toward the protesters. He was seen standing on what appeared to be a balcony, accompanied by other individuals who appeared to be officials. One of them was holding a poster with a quote that read, "Chai is fantastic."

According to a report by ANI, on Friday, over 500 British Hindus gathered outside the Pakistan High Commission, staging a protest against the Pahalgam terror attack. They held Indian flags, banners, and placards, and demanded justice for the victims. Slogans against terrorism were raised, and Pakistan was criticized for allegedly backing and sheltering terror activities, the report said.

The protesters also condemned the embassy’s "insensitive behavior", accusing it of playing loud celebratory music during the protest. This was described as a "tone-deaf and disgraceful act" amid a period of national grief.

One of the protest organizers was quoted by ANI as saying,"Today's protest was a call for justice and accountability. However, in a disturbing and shameful turn of events, officials within the Pakistan Embassy were seen playing loud celebratory music during the protest — a tone-deaf and disgraceful act that added deep insult to an already grievous injury. While the world mourns the victims, the embassy's actions displayed a shocking lack of empathy and human decency. Organizers condemn the Embassy's insensitive behaviour amid national grief. This horrifying terror attack, allegedly linked to Pakistan-sponsored militants, has sparked global condemnation. Families on pilgrimage were brutally attacked — slaughtered simply for their faith."

According to the report, the Indian community demanded that the UK government summon the Pakistan High Commissioner for an official explanation. They also demanded that Pakistan condemn the killings of innocent people, commit to ending the funding of terrorism, and that diplomatic pressure be asserted to bring the perpetrators to justice.

On April 22, 2025 the attackers killed tourists, killing 26 people, most of them male tourists, and injuring several others. A local pony operator was also killed for showing bravery trying to stop the one of the attackers and one Nepali national also lost life.
