Himachal Pradesh Weather Forecast Update on Christmas Latest News Today: Himachal Pradesh’s popular hill stations, Shimla and Manali, transformed into snowy wonderlands this Christmas, drawing a large influx of tourists. However, the heavy snowfall caused significant disruptions, with over 200 roads closed and four deaths reported due to skidding incidents.
Long traffic jams left nearly 1,000 vehicles stranded between Solang and the Atal Tunnel in Rohtang. Authorities rescued around 700 tourists by Tuesday. Major road closures included national highways like Attari-Leh and routes in Kullu, Kinnaur, and Lahaul-Spiti districts.
Shimla witnessed the most road closures (145), while some areas faced power outages due to 356 malfunctioning transformers. Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh assured that 268 snow-clearing machines, including snow blowers, have been deployed.
The MeT department predicts more rain and snow in parts of the state, particularly Shimla, from Friday evening through Sunday afternoon. Meanwhile, Lahaul and Spiti recorded the coldest temperature at minus 6.9°C.
