A significant portion of the discussion focused on encroachment.

Dehradun: In a high-level meeting held at the Chief Minister’s official residence this morning, Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami issued a series of stern directives to state officials aimed at intensifying the government’s drive against corruption, unlawful religious conversions, and land encroachments.

The Chief Minister emphasized the need for accountability, vigilance, and a strong commitment to preserving the cultural and territorial integrity of the state. CM Dhami instructed the officers to conduct the anti-corruption campaign more aggressively and demanded detailed reports on the actions taken so far in all pending and ongoing cases related to religious conversion.

"Verification drives must be conducted continuously and thoroughly," the CM said, underscoring the importance of preventing any suspicious activity or individual from operating unchecked. He also directed that no government document, including Aadhaar cards, should be issued without proper verification.

“Strict compliance must be ensured during the documentation process to avoid any misuse of government services,” he added. A significant portion of the discussion focused on encroachment. The CM called for continued vigilance in the campaign to free illegally occupied land and insisted that re-encroachment on cleared lands must not be allowed under any circumstances.

Officials were also told to conduct a thorough assessment of enemy properties and present a detailed report on existing encroachments on such properties. In a move to preserve the local ethos and promote employment, CM Dhami directed officials to prioritize local laborers in the construction of government buildings. He also stressed incorporating traditional Himalayan architecture and cultural elements into the design and construction of new government structures.

Security in border areas was another major focus. The CM called for a strengthened security apparatus and directed officers to conduct intensive verification and checking campaigns along border regions to prevent any infiltration or illegal activity.

“These instructions are aimed at maintaining law and order, preserving the cultural fabric of Uttarakhand, and ensuring that the administration remains transparent, accountable, and vigilant,” said a senior official who attended the meeting. The Chief Minister’s directives come as part of the state government’s broader efforts to enforce good governance, safeguard demographic balance, and enhance the security framework in the strategically important hill state.
