Manipur Video Case: Outrage Grows as our Accused Arrested in a Disturbing Incident of Indecent Acts

THOUBAL (Manipur): A horrifying incident of women being subjected to indecent acts, captured in a viral video, has sent shockwaves across the nation. On Wednesday, the disturbing footage surfaced on social media, leaving the government and the public in disbelief. The incident, which deeply shames humanity, occurred on May 4, but the FIR (First Information Report) was registered on June 21, nearly a month and a half later. The first accused was arrested, and the state police have since apprehended three more suspects, bringing the total number of arrests to four.

One of the recent arrests was made on Thursday morning, with authorities identifying the individual as 32-year-old Huiram Hardas Singh. He was taken into custody from Thoubal district after the video of the women's ordeal went viral. Prior to this, the FIR had faced delays in reaching the concerned police station as the victims had fled from their homes and sought help from police in another district. Tragically, during the incident, the victim's 19-year-old brother and father lost their lives, while the local police remained passive bystanders in the face of the disturbing crowd.

According to media reports, the delay in filing the FIR was caused by the complexities of tracking down the victims and transferring the case to the appropriate police station. Meanwhile, the state has implemented heightened vigilance, leading to 129 blockades at different locations in Manipur. Furthermore, 657 individuals involved in violent incidents across various districts have been detained in an effort to maintain order and security.

The police have urged the public to maintain peace and refrain from believing any rumors. To effectively manage the situation, a helpline number, 9233522822, has been established, encouraging the return of ammunition and other explosive materials to the police or security forces.
