Madrasas in Uttarakhand to include Operation Sindoor in Syllabus, Latest news: The Uttarakhand Madrasa Education Board on Tuesday announced its decision to include Operation Sindoor and other military operations conducted by Indian defence forces in the madrasa curriculum to instill a sense of patriotism among students.
Mufti Shamoon Qasmi, President of the Uttarakhand Madrasa Education Council, reportedly met Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi. He made the announcement while speaking to the media.
He said, “Uttarakhand is not just Devbhoomi — the land of gods — but also Veerbhoomi, meaning the land of soldiers. We have decided to include Operation Sindoor and stories of other military operations carried out by our defence forces in the syllabus, which will be taught up to the Alia level, i.e., intermediate, so that our students learn about the valour of the Indian forces.”
According to a report in The Hindu, there are 451 madrasas in Uttarakhand with over 50,000 students currently enrolled.
Operation Sindoor is the latest counter-terror operation carried out by India in response to terrorist activities by outfits based in Pakistan. The operation targeted nine terrorist bases located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) on May 7.
The action followed one of the deadliest terror attacks in recent years — the Pahalgam attack — in which 25 tourists and a local pony ride operator, all men, were killed. The Resistance Front, a shadow group of the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba, claimed responsibility for the attack.
In response, India also took major punitive diplomatic measures against Pakistan for backing and supporting terrorist organisations operating from its soil.
