Bihar govt constitutes ‘Bihar Cancer Care & Research Society’: Keeping in mind the rising numbers of cancer patients following their screening as a preventive measure, the Bihar government took a very important decision to set up a separate and dedicated ‘body’ “Bihar Cancer Care and Research Society” to provide timely treatment to patients.
The separate and dedicated body has been set up for the prevention, treatment and proper management of cancer in the state.
The decision was taken at a state cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar recently (on Friday last) that approved health department’s proposal to set up the Society which would specially work on cancer care and research.
Hails the decision- Hailing the cabinet’s decision, health minister Mangal Pandey thanked Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for setting up such a dedicated body for cancer and said that “the state has been carrying out historic and far reaching improvement in health sector under Chief
Minister’s able guidance.
Terming it as unprecedented decision, Pandey said the initiative to set up a dedicated Society is an important step for providing integrated, organised and easily available services relating to cancer.
The decision has been taken to further strengthen the existing system for treatment of cancer in view of surge in numbers of patients following the screening process to identify the patients suffering from the disease as a preventive measure, he said adding that it would ensure early and timely start of treatment, creating awareness campaigns and research in the field.
Giving proper treatment is the main objective- Notably, Bihar Cancer Care and Research Society will work as a separate and top body whose objective is to provide timely and proper treatment to patients.
Besides, carrying out effective public awareness programme and strengthening medical system through proper training and research in this field are another key functions of the body.
