Hearing Adjourned to January 9, 2024, as Court Requests Details of Investigations by Delhi Police and CBI

1984 Sikh Genocide Case Latest News: Delhi's Rouse Avenue court has directed Congress leader Jagdish Tytler's legal representatives to furnish a comprehensive list of FIRs filed by the Delhi Police and CBI related to the 1984 Pul Bangash Sikh massacre. The court has sought detailed information on the progress and findings of the investigations. The hearing for the case has been deferred until January 9, 2024.

The court's move comes after an earlier postponement on November 21, 2023, where the framing of charges against Jagdish Tytler for his alleged involvement in the 1984 Sikh massacre was delayed. Tytler's lawyer, Manu Sharma, requested the adjournment, citing the absence of copies of certified documents provided by the investigating agency. Consequently, the court rescheduled the hearing to December 18.

Anticipatory bail was granted to Jagdish Tytler on August 5 by the session court, a decision contested by the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC), representing the victims. Protests unfolded outside the Rouse Avenue court during Tytler's arraignment, with victims' families expressing dissatisfaction, vowing to appeal against the bail in the High Court. The families, under the DSGMC banner, emphasized their 39-year-long fight for justice and called for accountability for the alleged crimes committed in the Pul Bangash incident.

The Allegations against Tytler include incitement of a rioting mob in Pul Bangash, leading to the destruction of a Gurdwara and the tragic death of three individuals in the ensuing blaze. The victims demand justice similar to the sentencing of Sajjan Kumar, drawing attention to the need for accountability and resolution in the long-standing legal battle.
