As many as two people have died so far.

Gonda Train Derailment News, Chandigarh Dibrugarh Express Accident, CM Yogi Adityanath Latest News Today: In a shocking incident, more than half dozen bogies of Chandigarh Dibrugarh Express derailed near Gonda on Thursday. 

According to information, six coaches of 15904 Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express derailed between Motiganj-Jhilahi railway station in Gonda district of Uttar Pradesh. The train was reportedly heading towards Dibrugarh. A contingent of Army jawans is heading to assist the local administration with the rescue operation. 

In the meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh CMO stated, "Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath takes cognisance of the train accident in the Gonda district. He directs the officials to reach the spot immediately and expedite the relief work; gives instructions for proper treatment of the injured." 

Relief Commissioner, Uttar Pradesh, on Dibrugarh-Chandigarh express derailment, said that "One NDRF team each was sent from Lucknow and Balrampur to Gonda. 5 ambulances were deployed for rescue operations in the train accident and orders have been given to send more ambulances to the spot. First aid is being given to the injured. The injured are being shifted to the hospital. SDRF teams sent from three districts to expedite relief operations."

The visuals from the sport are horrific and people were seen in panic as and when the situation unfolded.  

It may be recalled that last month on June 17, 2024, Kanchanjunga Express was hit by a goods train in the Phansidewa area of the Darjeeling district.
