Dsgmc Welcomes Constitution Of 15 Member Committee By Us Govt For Spreading Awareness About Sikhs

New Delhi : The Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC) has welcomed constitution of 15 member Committee by the US Administration to spread awareness about the Sikhs and has  External Affairs Minister Mrs. Sushma Swaraj to direct Indian Embassies to spread awareness about the sikh on the pious occasion of 550th birthday of Guru Nanak Dev ji.

 In a statement issued here today Mr. Manjinder Singh Sirsa General Secretary of the DSGMC, said that the DSGMC was taking up this issue since long and has issued several appeals to administration world over that it is only the issue of real identification and knowledge on Sikhism and its tenets and articles of faith about which awareness needs to be spread worldwide.

He said that constitution of 15 member committee  will go a long way in making people residing in US aware about the Sikh articles of faith i.e. Sikh Kakkars and other important aspects about the Sikhs and their religion.  Mr. Sirsa said that inclusion of only 15 Sikh personalities can help to accomplish the task more effectively. He said that the decision to get training for TSA State Petrol and official associated with security aspect will be immensely helpful to identify the Sikhs and issue of mistaken identity can be resolved on a larger scale.

Mr. Sirsa said that he had already taken up this issue of spreading awareness about the Sikhs and Sikhism with the External Affairs Minister Mrs. Sushma Swaraj and has now urged her to direct Indian Embassies situated in different countries to launch special campaigns on the issue on the pious occasion of 550th birthday of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. He said that Mrs. Swaraj has already declared that birthday of the Guru Sahib will be celebrated throughout the world by the Indian Embassies.

He said that an awareness campaign on the five Kakkars and Turban to make the local people aware about the Sikhism can help solve this problem of mistaken identity on a very large scale and will prove immensely helpful.The DSGMC General Secretary also disclosed that he had already sent a petition to the UN General Assembly for passing a resolution on five Kakkars of the Sikhs and their Turban in which all nations have been urged to make appropriate laws to amend the existing laws to take on this problem of mistaken identity.
