Let us use this occasion to take a pledge so that we will spread the message of traffic discipline, road user discipline, and safety as much as possible and contribute to better traffic management in Delhi and also contribute to nation-building, he said. As future road users, children have to play a key role in ensuring that road rules are followed, Patnaik said.  You have to catch children at a young and formative stage so that they are taught the importance of obeying traffic rules and regulations.

We have to expose them to such kind of programmes as much as possible. We need to involve as many children as possible so that they also go and sensitize their peers and even their parents, he added.  A total of 2,600 students and their parents participated in the summer camp which commenced last month. School students also staged a 'nukkad natak' on the hazards of not following traffic rules and regulations. Yadvinder Singh Guleria, senior vice president sales, and marketing, Honda, said in the last five years, they have trained more than two lakh people about road safety and awareness and 60 percent of these are children.
