Delhi Elections 2025 Latest News: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal has alleged a covert alliance between the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), claiming that the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections will expose this “jugalbandi” (partnership).
Taking to X, Kejriwal wrote, “I said just one line about Rahul Gandhi and the reply is coming from the BJP. Look how much trouble the BJP is facing. Perhaps this Delhi election will expose the ‘jugalbandi’ going on behind the scenes between Congress and BJP for years.”
Kejriwal’s comments followed BJP leader Amit Malviya’s response to his earlier remarks about Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. On Monday, Kejriwal had criticized Gandhi, stating that the Congress MP’s focus is on saving his party, whereas Kejriwal’s is on “saving the country.”
“Today Rahul Gandhi came to Delhi. He abused me a lot. But I will not comment on his statements. His fight is to save Congress, my fight is to save the country,” Kejriwal posted on X.
Reacting to this, BJP’s Malviya fired back, saying, “Worry about the country later, save your New Delhi seat for now.”
Meanwhile, in a public rally in Seelampur, Rahul Gandhi took aim at both the BJP and AAP, questioning their efforts to address inflation and economic inequality.
“I wish to ask: is inflation increasing or decreasing? What did Kejriwal and PM Modi say about inflation? Poor are becoming poorer, and the rich are becoming richer,” Gandhi said. He also accused both leaders of avoiding discussions about influential billionaires, saying, “Have you ever seen PM Modi or Kejriwal speaking about Adani or Ambani?”
The Delhi Assembly elections are scheduled for February 5, with results to be declared on February 8. The filing of nominations closes on January 17, with scrutiny on January 18 and withdrawals by January 20.
