Rescue Efforts in Full Swing as Relief Operations and Medical Aid Rushed to the Site

BUXAR: In a devastating incident, the North East Express derailed near Buxar in Bihar, leading to a fatal disaster. The unfortunate event occurred between Turiganj and Raghunathpur, prompting swift relief and rescue operations at the accident site. As of now, four passengers have lost their lives, and over a hundred individuals have been severely injured. The injured are being transported to nearby medical facilities, including Raghunathpur Primary Health Centre, Arrah, Buxar, AIIMS Patna, and IGIMS Patna.

The Derailment took place on a coach of the 12506 North Eastern Express, a train traveling from Anand Vihar Terminal in Delhi to Kamakhya (Guwahati), near Raghunathpur station in Buxar district. The incident transpired at 9:53 pm, causing distress among passengers and necessitating immediate assistance.

Ashwini Vaishnav, the Railway Minister, stated that the rescue operation is being conducted with utmost urgency and coordination, involving the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), district administration, railway officials, and local residents. The injured are receiving prompt medical attention, and a dedicated war room has been established to manage the crisis effectively.

The Ill-fated train, comprised of 23 coaches, commenced its journey from Delhi's Anand Vihar Terminal at 7:40 am on the fateful day. According to Birendra Kumar, Chief Public Relations Officer of East Central Railway Zone, the derailment transpired shortly after the train left Buxar station en route to Arrah. Relief and rescue operations swiftly followed, with ambulances and medical teams dispatched to the site for immediate assistance. A 'scratch rake,' a temporary arrangement resembling an actual train, was sent from Patna to facilitate the safe evacuation of passengers from the accident site.

Union Minister Ashwini Choubey expressed his concern over the tragic incident, engaging with senior railway officials to assess the situation at Raghunathpur railway station within his parliamentary constituency in Buxar. Labeling the incident as tragic, he assured that relief operations were initiated, calling upon local communities and directing party workers to extend all possible assistance to those affected by this unfortunate event.
