Mansa Court Directs BBC to Respond by June 16 in Sidhu Moosewala Documentary Case
Sidhu Moosewala BBC Documentary Case latest updates: local court in Mansa today heard a plea filed by the family of late Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala seeking a stay on the recently released BBC documentary titled "The Killing Call." The court directed the BBC to file a formal response to the petition by June 16.
The BBC was represented in court by a lawyer from Chandigarh. During the hearing, arguments were presented against the broadcast of the documentary, which Moosewala’s family claims was released without their consent and could potentially tarnish the late singer’s legacy.
The two-part documentary was released on YouTube on June 11 — coinciding with Moosewala’s birth anniversary — and has since sparked widespread debate. It includes interviews with Moosewala’s acquaintances and even features gangster Goldy Brar, the prime accused in his assassination.
Sidhu Moosewala, born Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, was shot dead on May 29, 2022, in Mansa’s Jawaharke village. The BBC documentary explores his rise to stardom, his alleged connections to crime networks, and the circumstances of his death.
The Mansa court will next hear the matter on June 16, when the BBC is expected to submit its reply.
