Air India Turns Display Picture Black in Mourning After AI-171 Crash
Following the tragic crash of Flight AI-171 from Ahmedabad to London (Gatwick), Air India has changed its display picture and cover photo on X (formerly Twitter) to black, a symbolic expression of grief and solidarity.
The crash, which occurred shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad, claimed multiple lives and led to the suspension of operations at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport.
Air India Chairman N. Chandrasekaran, in an earlier statement, expressed profound sorrow and assured that all efforts are being made to support the affected families and assist in ongoing rescue operations.
Air India on a post on X, wrote, “Air India confirms that flight AI171, from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick, was involved in an accident today after take-off.”
