In a statement given to ANI, Mumbai claimed the person arrested in the case to be mentally ill.
On February 11, the Mumbai Police received a call from a man warning them about a potential terrorist attack on the Prime Minister ahead of his two-day visit to the US. Considering the alarming nature of the call, the police immediately informed security agencies, and a probe was launched, revealing that the man behind the call was mentally ill
“The person who made the threat call to the Mumbai Police Control Room has been taken into custody from the Chembur area. He is mentally ill," the police added
This is not the first time a call of such nature has been received. A similar threat was received in December last year.
PM Modi is on a four-day visit to France and the United States. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive in the United States on Wednesday after two-day France visit.
