Snowfall led to the closure of 15 roads, including two national highways, across the state.

Himachal Pradesh First Snowfall Led to Road Closures, Weather Update Latest News Today: The first snowfall of the season in Himachal Pradesh brought picturesque views but also caused accidents and significant disruptions. On Monday, a tourist from Delhi lost his life, and three others were injured after their car skidded on a slippery road in Lahaul and Spiti. Meanwhile, snowfall led to the closure of 15 roads, including two national highways, across the state.

Fatal Accident in Lahaul & Spiti

The deceased, identified as 49-year-old Bhishan Garg, a company owner from Delhi, was driving the vehicle when it skidded on a snow-covered road and collided with a stationary tipper near the Snow Gallery and Pagal Nala, just ahead of the Rohtang Tunnel. Officials stated that the car was attempting to overtake during a traffic jam when the accident occurred. The impact of the collision triggered the deployment of all airbags, but tragically, Garg succumbed to his injuries.

Following the accident, the police issued an advisory urging tourists to drive cautiously, maintain low speeds, avoid abrupt braking, and adhere to weather updates to prevent similar mishaps. Rescue operations were also conducted on Sunday evening to assist over 150 stranded tourists in Lahaul and Spiti, who were relocated to local hotels for their safety.
