Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday called Bangalore a symbol of New India, a city that has carried India’s flag on the Global IT Map, and praised the hard work and talent of the people behind the city’s “success”. He said India is the fastest-growing major economy, and India gets this speed from the spirit of ‘reform, perform, transform’. He also attributed the success of Operation Sindoor to India’s technological advancement and the contributions of Bangaluru youths.
Speaking at the 'Next-Gen Mobility for a Next-Gen City' programme in Bengaluru, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "We are seeing Bangalore emerging as a city that has become a symbol of the rise of the new India... A city that has put India's flag on the global IT map. If there is anything behind Bangalore's success story, it is the hard work and talent of its people."
"Today, India is the fastest-growing major economy. In the last 11 years, our economy rose from number 10th position to number 4th position, we are going to become the third largest economy, we got this speed from the spirit of reform, perform, transform, it is also because of pure intention, honest efforts...” PM said.
PM Modi highlighted that in 2014, metro services were available in “only 5 cities” and that now it is available in 24 cities. “World's third largest metro network is in India now... In the last 11 years, we have done the electrification of rail routes spanning more than 40,000 km."
He further said, “Till 2014, there were only 74 airports in India. Now their number has increased to more than 160... The figures for waterways are also equally impressive. In 2014, only 3 national waterways were operational. Now this number has increased to 30."
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also laid the foundation stone of the Bangalore Metro Phase-3 project worth over Rs 15,610 crore. The total route length of the project will be more than 44 km with 31 elevated stations.

He also flagged off the Yellow line of the Bangalore metro, part of the Metro Phase-2 project worth about Rs 7,160 crore, and is expected to benefit eight lakh people.
Sunday visit to Bengaluru today is his first visit to the city after Operation Sindoor, India’s strategic military strike against terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir, carried out in May earlier this year.
Speaking further at the event, PM Modi said that during Operation Sindoor, the world saw ‘India’s New Avatar’ and attributed its success to the country’s “technological prowess” and the contributions of Bengaluru’s youth.
PM Modi said, "I have come to Bengaluru for the first time after Operation Sindoor. Our Armed Forces brought Pakistan to its knees, and the world saw India's new avatar. It became possible due to our technological prowess, Make in India, which has contributions from the youth of Bengaluru. I thank you. Today, Bengaluru is in the league of the best cities, but we need to lead. Hence, for modern infrastructure, our impetus is on projects. The Yellow Line will connect many important areas. Ease of living, working will be there. We also laid the foundation for the Orange Line, with that, 25 lakh commuters will be commuting daily... Companies like Infosys, Biocon, and Delta Electronics have done part funding, their CSR model is inspirational, I congratulate the corporate sector."
"The reach of digital solutions has reached every village. More than 50% of the world's real-time transactions are done through UPI in India. With the help of technology, we are bridging the gap between the government and citizens... Now we are also investing in technologies like AI-powered threat detection. Our effort is to ensure that the benefits of the digital revolution in the country reach each person in society. Bengaluru is working actively in this effort."
Looking forward, he said, "Our next big priority among the current achievements should be 'Tech Aatmanirbhar Bharat'... Now is the time to give more priority to the needs of India and move ahead faster in developing new products..."
He emphasized that the presence of Bengaluru and Karnataka in 'Make in India' has to be strengthened and urged that products should be of the standards of 'Zero Defect, Zero Effect'.
“That is, there should be defect-free products, and their manufacturing should also not have any negative impact on the environment. I expect that the talent of Karnataka will lead this vision of 'Aatmnirbhar Bharat,'”the PM stated.
