President Droupadi Murmu Takes a Holy Dip at Mahakumbh in Prayagraj latest news: Prayagraj, February 10, 2025: President Droupadi Murmu on Monday took a holy dip at the confluence (Sangam) during the Mahakumbh Mela in Prayagraj, accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Governor Anandiben Patel. President Murmu became the second president of India after Dr. Rajendra Prasad to perform the sacred bath at the Kumbh.
Upon her arrival in Prayagraj, President Murmu, along with CM Yogi and Governor Patel, boarded a boat and fed birds while sailing across the waters. The President was warmly welcomed at Prayagraj Airport by Governor Patel and CM Yogi. A statement from the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Sunday announced, "During her one-day visit to Prayagraj, the President will take a holy dip in the Sangam, perform pooja, and visit the Akshayvat and Hanuman temples. She will also explore the Digital Kumbh Experience Centre."
According to a press release from the Uttar Pradesh government, President Murmu with CM Yogi Adityanath offered prayers at the Akshayvat and Bade Hanuman temples. At the Mahakumbh, the President went boating and fed the birds. After the holy bath, she performed rituals and offered flowers.
President Murmu is the second President of India who has bathed in the Mahakumbh. The first one was Dr. Rajendra Prasad, who had taken the holy dip in 1954.
