Delhi School Bomb Hoax Latest News Today: Delhi Police have detained a Class 12 student responsible for a series of bomb threats sent to multiple schools in the city over the past few weeks. The student reportedly orchestrated the hoaxes to avoid appearing for exams at his own school, according to officials.
The minor, who sent at least six bomb threat emails, targeted multiple schools at a time while intentionally excluding his own institution. In one instance, he sent emails to 23 schools simultaneously, spreading panic across the city.
Officials revealed that the student's plan was to create a disruption that would lead to exam cancellations. However, the hoaxes triggered widespread alarm, with school campuses evacuated and bomb squads conducting thorough searches, which ultimately revealed no threats.
Last month, over 40 schools, including prominent institutions like DPS RK Puram and GD Goenka School in Paschim Vihar, received bomb threats via email. One such email claimed small bombs were planted on campuses and demanded $30,000 to defuse them.
The frequent hoaxes drew sharp criticism, with Chief Minister Atishi blaming the BJP-led central government for the deteriorating law and order situation in Delhi. The Delhi Police, under the Union Home Ministry, faced mounting pressure to resolve the issue.
In response, authorities began training teachers and school staff to handle such crises. A seminar jointly organized by the police and the Education Department focused on enhancing preparedness against bomb threat scenarios.
The bomb threat trend has not been limited to schools. Several airlines also received hoax emails recently, causing emergency landings and operational disruptions. In one incident last year, Delhi Police detained a 25-year-old man for a similar hoax, while Mumbai Police apprehended a 17-year-old for framing a friend with a bomb threat email.
