10 kg gold biscuits seized by SL Navy off IMBL, two held

Rameswaram(TN): Gold biscuits weighing about 10 kg meant to be smuggled into the country were seized from a boat by the Sri Lankan Navy in their territorial waters and two persons arrested in this connection.


Acting on a tip-off last night that gold worth Rs 2 crore was being smuggled from the island nation to Dhanushkodi near here, the naval personnel intercepted a Sri lankan boat on suspicion near the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) and found 10 kg gold, meant to be traded for drugs, on it, police said.

Two persons on the boat were arrested and taken to Kangesanthurai port, they said. PTI
