Delhi Service Bill addresses the Centre's authority over the bureaucrats of the Delhi Govt

NEW-DELHI: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has conveyed his gratitude to Congress leaders for their support towards the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on the matter of the Delhi Service Bill. The bill, which saw parliamentary approval on Monday, prompted Kejriwal to extend his thanks to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Member of Parliament Rahul Gandhi for their stance.

Notably, The National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2023, was sanctioned by the Parliament, with 131 votes in favor and 102 opposing voices in the Rajya Sabha. The bill addresses the central government's authority over the bureaucrats of the Delhi government.

In a letter to the Congress leaders, Arvind Kejriwal, the national convener of AAP, conveyed, "I express my heartfelt gratitude to your party for voting against the National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2023, representing the two crore people of Delhi."
