Who is Sonam Raghuvanshi, Accused in the Murder Case of Her Husband? latest news: Sonam Raghuvanshi is accused of planning her husband's murder, Meghalaya Police said on Monday.
The couple got married on May 11, and on May 20, they went on their honeymoon to Shillong. They reportedly reached Mawlakhiat village on May 22 using a rented scooter.
Their last conversation with family took place on May 23, after which they went missing during their honeymoon in Meghalaya. Raja’s body was later recovered in the state on June 2.
On May 24, the scooter was found abandoned at a café along the road between Shillong and Sohra, prompting a search operation, according to Hindustan Times.
As of now, three men have been arrested in connection with the case, and police confirmed that Sonam has surrendered.
Sonam Raghuvanshi and her husband Raja Raghuvanshi were both residents of Indore, Madhya Pradesh.
Her father, Devi Singh, has accused the Meghalaya Chief Minister and police of lying, and has called for a CBI probe into the case. He also said he is considering writing to Union Home Minister Amit Shah to request a CBI investigation.
Her Brother Vipul said, the report of the post-mortemstill is still have not given and that he would like the MP police or the CBI to take over the case.
Speaking to ANI, Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong said the state government is in the process of bringing Sonam to Shillong.
“We are in the process of bringing her to Shillong for further investigation... All these days they have blamed the people and government of Meghalaya. Since we have already arrested the accused, everything will become clearer to them, and one day they will have to withdraw their statements against Meghalaya,” he told ANI.
Deputy CM Prestone Tynsong added, “Meghalaya is safe, and people need to learn not to jump to conclusions without getting all the facts and details. It creates confusion.”
Vivek Syiem, Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills, said, “Once the team reaches there, they will arrest her and take transit remand.”
The SP also noted, “Yes, it appears so (that Sonam had a boyfriend)... Two teams of Meghalaya Police are in Madhya Pradesh and one team is going to Uttar Pradesh to arrest Sonam.”
He further added, “If you look at it logically, all these days she hadn’t surfaced, but last night, when Raj Kushwaha and others were caught, she suddenly came out. That speaks for itself.”
Her neighbor told PTI, ““I can't believe it, she was a well behaved and educated girl. I don't know if she did it or not. The girl may be involved, but we can't claim anything. She was a nice, simple girl. We don't think she would have done it.”
Those arrested in the case include:
• Akash Rajput (19), from Lalitpur
• Vishal Singh Chauhan (22), from Indore
• Raj Singh Kushwaha (21), also from Indore
Following the recovery of the body on June 2, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed, and an investigation was initiated.
