IndiGo has issued a step-by-step guide so that passengers can claim refunds or rebook flights. According to airlines, to retrieve their itinerary, passengers should first visit the “Manage Booking” or “Refund” section on the IndiGo website and enter their PNR (booking reference number), along with their email ID or last name.

Passengers can choose “Cancel Booking” once the itinerary appears and then decide between a full refund or rebooking another flight at no extra cost. Airlines clarified that refunds for online payments are typically credited back to the original mode of payment within 5–7 business days. Passengers who booked tickets in cash are required to collect refunds at the airport ticket counter. Those who booked through travel agents or third-party portals are advised by the airline to contact their respective agencies for refund processing.

The airline announced that cancellation and rescheduling charges are temporarily waived off for flights between December 5 and December 15, 2025, whether the cancellation is initiated by IndiGo or the passenger.

According to the Ministry of Civil Aviation, IndiGo has already processed over INR 610 crore in refunds and returned thousands of misplaced baggage items. Despite these corrective measures, passengers are frustrated, with many missing connecting flights, exams, or important events. Confusion persists around refund timelines and procedures, leaving some travellers uncertain about their options.

IndiGo has apologised for the inconvenience, and it has assured passengers that operations are gradually returning to normal. The airline has also set up dedicated helplines and customer support to address queries.

According to aviation experts, with the festive season and winter travel peaks ongoing, airlines, including IndiGo, face increased pressure to maintain schedules, making timely refunds and transparent communication critical for passenger trust.
