NEW-DELHI: India's tennis legend Rohan Bopanna etched his name in the annals of tennis history at the US Open. Bopanna, in partnership with Australian player Matthew Ebden, secured a berth in the men's doubles final after a remarkable victory over the French duo of Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas Mahut with a score of 7-6 (7-3), 6-2 in New York on Thursday.

This Momentous Achievement marks Bopanna's second appearance in a Grand Slam men's doubles final this year, following their journey to the Wimbledon final. Despite a previous loss at Wimbledon, Bopanna's recent triumph in New York has propelled him into an exclusive club of tennis greats. At the age of 43 years and six months, he now holds the distinction of being the oldest player to reach a Grand Slam final in the Open era, which dates back to 1968. In doing so, he surpassed the previous record held by Canada's Daniel Nestor, who reached a Grand Slam final at the age of 43 years and four months.
