New Delhi: Petrol and diesel prices were hiked by 60 paise per litre on Sunday after 83 days, prompting state-owned oil companies to resume the process of daily changes in oil prices.
Petrol price in Delhi has been hiked from Rs 71.26 to Rs 71.86 per litre following a notification issued by state-owned companies.
Petrol priceThus, the price of diesel has gone up from Rs 69.39 to Rs 69.99 per litre. Public sector oil companies have been fluctuating in prices of jet fuel and domestic cooking gas but petrol and diesel prices have remained stable since March 16 due to sharp fluctuations in international crude oil prices.
After the government's hike in excise duty on petrol and diesel by Rs 3 per litre, their prices stabilized. Later, on May 6, the government hiked excise duty on petrol by Rs 10 per litre and diesel by Rs 13 per litre.
