Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta underscored the transition toward a women-led development model during the inaugural ceremony of ‘Shakti Samvad’, a two-day capacity-building programme at Bharat Mandapam. Organised by the National Commission for Women (NCW), the event brought together chairpersons and officers from state women’s commissions across India.

The Chief Minister announced several initiatives to bolster economic self-reliance and safety. Key highlights include the provision of collateral-free loans up to Rs 10 crore for women entrepreneurs and the establishment of 500 ‘Palna Kendras’ (creches) to support working mothers. Additionally, the government has permitted women to work night shifts, provided strict safety protocols are maintained.

To address safety concerns, Gupta stated that 10,000 advanced CCTV cameras and one lakh sensor-based smart LED lights are being installed across the capital. On the legal front, 53 new judicial posts have been approved to facilitate fast-track special courts for cases involving women.
